How to Complete TP-Link Deco M5 Setup?

The Deco M5 mesh system is one of the networking devices that provide users, seamless connectivity and speedy internet service. Let’s see how to complete TP-Link Deco M5 setup.

How to Setup Deco M5?

To start the Deco M5 setup, you have to connect one of the nodes to the home cable modem, which you can do via Ethernet cable. Just follow on;

Connect Deco to Modem

Place a Deco node close to the modem.
Use the Ethernet cable and connect one end to the modem LAN port.
Then, connect other end to any port of the Deco node.
After connecting the cable, you must power the device up by inserting its adapter to the power outlet.

By connecting the Deco device to the modem physically is not completion of the setup. To complete setup, you have to configure it by adjusting its settings and network. There are two methods to reach Deco login interface for M5; via phone (Deco app) and via computer (Tplinkdeco.net).

Configure Deco Using App

To configure the Deco device with your phone, you have to connect it to the Deco network via SSID.
You should download the Deco app in your phone with the help of Play Store or App Store.
Open the app and create an account on it. Just tap on Sign Up and enter your Email ID, name and password.
Reach to the dashboard in the app and here you can adjust/configure a lot of settings and networks.

Configure Deco Using URL

To configure the Deco via computer, you have to connect the computer to its network via LAN cable or SSID.
Go in to any updated web browser and type in the IP address 192.168.1.1 or URL tplinkdeco.net.
To search just press the Enter button and you will get to the login page of the interface.

You have to enter the admin username and password to access the interface; you can find it on the label or in the user manual of the Deco.

Troubleshooting Tips

Reboot Deco Nods

To reboot the Deco unit, you can use two methods given below;

Find the power On/Off on the device and press it twice.
Plug out the Deco power adapter from wall socket and plug it in again.

Reset Deco Device

To Reset TP-Link Deco, you have to follow some of the steps provided below;

Find Reset pinhole button on the Node.
Use sharp object, press and hold Reset button for about 5 seconds.
Release the button and the reset process will start.

You can also remove/reset the device through the app;

Open and log in to the Deco app.
Tap on the More option and select the node to remove.
Tap on the Settings Icon and touch on the remove button.
You will be asked to agree further, just tap on the Yes button.

After resetting Deco, you have to configure it again, because reset process will delete all the data from the device.
